Beauty That Leads You Home
Answering the Call of the Soul
Laurie Morse is a San Diego–based professional artist whose work bridges art and healing through nature‑based abstraction. A 35‑year practitioner of Chinese Medicine and a professional artist for over two decades, her work is deeply informed by an understanding of energy, balance, and the body’s relationship to environment. She is also the author of three books focused on healing and transformation.
Her artwork explores art as visual alchemy, using intuitive mark‑making, botanical symbolism, and layered texture to translate emotion and energy into form. Guided by color as frequency and nature as teacher, each piece is designed to subtly restore harmony within both viewer and space.
She works from a studio in a historic building in the heart of San Diego, California, surrounded by gardens and wise old trees. Every corner is filled with art supplies she both needs and loves, and two cats who quietly oversee the entire creative process.
ARTIST STATEMENT
My work explores art as visual alchemy—using nature-based abstract realism, color, and texture to translate emotion and energy into form. Guided by intuition rather than fixed composition, each piece unfolds through layered mark-making and organic movement. These layers bridge ancient wisdom with the present moment. Botanical elements function as symbolic language, reflecting cycles of growth, healing, and renewal. Created with intention, each piece is meant to subtly shift the energy of a space, inviting stillness, balance, and a deeper connection to beauty.
I have a deep inner knowing that we are designed for wholeness. I like the word HEAL as an acronym for Health, Expression, Abundance, and Love.
As a decades-long practitioner of Chinese Medicine, I got to know Qi or Life Force intimately, then I was called to Art and the Creative Process and knew there was a link between healing and creativity. A perfect marriage.
Early on my artistic style was asian fusion mixed media. During the pandemic that began to shift into contemporary abstract. It’s in abstract form that Patterns of Perfection reside until they find their way into physical form. Patterns of Perfection for the realm of Divine Love such as health, vitality, ease, empowerment, self-acceptance and self-love, a plentiful supply of good things in order to thrive, loving connection and relationships. I was guided to begin painting that energy into form. I use symbols, light, color, intention, shapes, nature, and a continuous flow of love from my heart as I create a piece. Each artwork is constantly emitting the frequency of Love, Peace and Vitality into the space it lives and to the viewer, whether the piece is original or a reproduction/print.
“The Soul Speaks in Image”, said Carl Jung, and it’s the Soul that teaches us how to be whole. Art, intentionally created, teaches us wholeness.
It is truly a great honor to be an artist who gets to create with this level of intention. Love is the ultimate healer of everything that ails a mind, body, and world, and every mark I make is devoted to this Love.

“My mission is to consistently infuse as many spaces and viewers with beauty, art, and Love.”

History
1995 - My creativity practice began with The Artists’ Way and a 12-week program that taught me all my previous failed attempts at creating was normal. Before this, I determined I was not creative and stopped any attempts when what I needed was to keep engaging in my creative journey. Fortunately, I listened to that guidance.
2008 - Began a 3yr. formal program at UCSD (University California San Diego) call “Art and the Creative Process” which really opened my eyes to the notion that anyone can be creative if they apply themselves. I began my creative journaling in earnest.
2011 - Graduated from the UCSD Art program with several works of art accepted into UCSD sponsored shows.
2013 - First solo art show and permanent exhibit at the Pacific College of Oriental Medicine, San Diego. This exhibit is still on display.
2014 - An array of solo art shows with healing themes over the next 7 years as well as the establishment of online courses and workshops that teach the elements of healing to wholeness via a creative process. No experience necessary.
2015 - Soul Art Guide certification training.
2018 - Year long certification as an Intentional Creativity Teacher with Shiloh Sophia and Musea. An incredible journey of self exploration in order to teach others the same.
2021 - A change in artistic style from asian fusion to contemporary abstract. The continuation of education and teaching of the creative process via a 3 month intensive called Art to Life, where deep artistic skill and style is explored, but also what art means to life and what life means to art.
2025 + - A year-long art program through the Milan Art Institute, continuing to hone my artistic skill, voice, and professional presence. Authorship of three books, interviews, and collaborations in support of creativity for all.

I have been trained for years in creating intentional art, art with purpose, art as sacred alchemy, and all of that is infused in every stroke of artwork. My purpose in creating art that heals is to infuse beauty, light, and love back into the world. My other purpose is for every viewer and buyer to notice their mind calm, their heart heal, and their soul awaken upon viewing my art.

It is standard practice for artwork to be priced by square inch. For example a 12 x 12 piece is 144 sq. in., then that number is multiplied by a dollar amount generally between $2 - $10

I'm a "treat others as I like to be treated" person. I happen to treat myself with dignity, respect, kindness, with as much light-heartedness as I can. You can expect to be treated the same. People get outcomes that are both expected and delightfully unexpected.
